VOCAL MUSIC

The Summit Christian Academy vocal music program wants to develop the musical talent in each student.
A 2009 graduate of SCA who received a scholarship in musical theatre says, “Participation in OSSAA and other various competitions prepared me for a future career in music. I owe my deepest passion for the Performing Arts to the Fine Arts program at Summit Christian Academy.” The study of music begins in kindergarten and continues through twelfth grade. The teaching of music theory—bridged with musical performances—helps prepare students for ministry to God and to others.
“The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul”
- Johann Sebastian Bach
Students participate in concerts each semester at both the elementary and secondary levels. The middle school and high school choirs compete in the OSSAA district and state music competitions. They also compete in the Music in the Parks Festival in Branson, Missouri, where they have previously received excellent and superior ratings.
One goal of the vocal music department at SCA is to produce strong disciples with a heart of compassion and service. The choirs have ministered in nursing homes, schools, the Tulsa airport, malls, and hospitals.
